Henan University of Economics and Law

The People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Education approved the Henan University of Finance, Economics and Law (HUFEL) to establish in March 2010. It was a merger between the former Henan University of Finance and Economics and the Henan Administrative Institute of Politics and Law. Located in Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan province, HUFEL offers higher education programs in six disciplines -- economics, management science, law, literature, science and engineering, with an emphasis on the first three.

Since 1995 the government has approved the former Henan University of Finance and Economics to recruit international students and the university has since continued to do so. HUFEL currently has three campuses, covering an area of 133.3 hectares, equipped with well-established facilities and good teaching conditions. Until recently, HUFEL has an enrollment of 14000, totaling 4 disciplines and 32 sub-disciplines (including MBA) for master degree along with 41 undergraduate majors.

Cultural Exchange

The university has always placed significant emphasis in encouraging the attendance of exchange students, appointing experienced teachers on duty and providing good conditions for learning, student’s support and entertainment. HUFEL’s International Affairs Office is a specialized department responsible for cultural and educational exchange. The department has been greatly successful in furthering cooperation and cultural exchange. Having established strong ties with universities and cultural institutions in Japan, Korea, America, Britain, France, Russia, Ireland, Australia, and other countries; a strong transcontinental cultural cooperation network to which Austria has recently become a partner.

Consequently, a close partnership between the Austrian province Tirol and the Chinese province of Henan has provided new and exciting opportunities to develop diplomatic bridges between the two countries. Since the 1st of March 2011 a civil servant has undertaken teaching English at the Henan University of Economics and Law and providing assistance to the Henan Province Foreign Affairs Office in matters concerning cultural exchange.
